Description
Life without a zipper is almost unimaginable today. They are found on jackets, pants, jackets as well as shoes. They are much more practical than buttons or binding. On March 17, 1917, Gideon Sundback patented his "detachable buckle." At first, like many other inventions, it was used only in the military. Immediately after patenting, it was used in the U.S. Navy in the last months of World War I. However, it took quite a few more years for the zipper to be used by civilians as well, as they were not exactly enthusiastic about the invention. Slovenia is also connected to the zipper. The Slovenian inventor Peter Florjančič invented the plastic zipper in 1948.
