Description
The intermittent Cerknica Lake is one of the global attractions of the Slovenian Karst. Abundant autumn precipitation fills the valley with water, which in ideal conditions remains to the start of summer. The flooded grassy fields are ideal breeding grounds for pike, tench and chub, while at the same time being rich in food for their offspring and young. With the arrival of summer, the water retreats to the riverbed and with it the fish. The concentration of fish is large and thus the fishing is extremely good.
