Description
Damigiana (Italian), or demijohns (French) were commonly used to store liquids - oils, vinegar, wine, spirits, as well as beer. This jugs are primarly used for storing "landlord" wine - the homemade wine many locals or small farms make each wine season. Traditionally the oversized glass bottles were wrapped in chestnut-wood wicker - protecting the relatively thin glassed jars during transporation and storage.
